About Us

Little Flower Farm is dedicated St.Therese of Lisieux, the “little flower.” We are a family operated farm, located in Lewisberry, York County, Pennsylvania. We raise grass-fed beef, woodland raised pork, and seasonal chicken and turkey. We care about our animals and the products we sell...and why wouldn't we, since we use them ourselves! We value knowing where our food, and the products we use come from, and are happy to offer them for you to enjoy as well!

Our Story

Several years ago my wife was prescribed Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) for an infection.  After one dose of Cipro her arms started to tingle and then go numb.  Shortly thereafter, other side effects such as anxiety settled in, and this frequently prescribed antibiotic changed our lives forever.

Within an hour or so of the initial side effects we made a visit to the local emergency room and the doctors told my wife to "go home and take a bubble bath" and that she needed to "relax".  Subsequent trips to the ER resulted in similar unsatisfying results.  This was the start of a year long journey and struggle for recovery.

We quickly learned that many doctors didn't want to hear or learn about the side effects of drugs they prescribe.  Many refused to believe that such side effects exist even though they are printed right on the drug label.  Fortunately we found help from a doctor who had studied and written about the thousands of people suffering from the side effects of Cipro.  We also learned that chicken farmers will use Cipro, and other antibiotics, in the chicken feed and water to help keep their chickens "healthy".  We were told that my wife should never again eat store bought chicken.  It was this singular event that lead us to look at our lives and begin to take the necessary steps to know exactly where are food comes from and how it was raised.

It wasn't too many years after that life changing experience that our family moved out to a 32-acre farm in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania and began our journey to raising our own grass-fed, antibiotic and hormone free meats and poultry.  We have dedicated Little Flower Farm to St.Therese of Lisieux, the little flower, who believed that is was the simple things in life that draw us closer to God.   We raise and promote heritage breeds, with a special focus on Belted Galloway cattle and Gloucester Old Spot pigs.

Caring for our animals, as well as the land that they roam, is important for all of us.  Building nutrient dense soils, preserving and promoting genetic diversity, and ensuring that our animals are raised in the open air with clean water, and chemical free, all works to create a better environment and nutritious beef and pork…just the way God intended it to be!
